Our technician tapped the 3/4″ cold water supply at the water heater, installed a 1/2″ PEX ball valve at the connection point, then ran 1/2″ PEX overhead (insulated the full 50-foot run) to the geothermal unit. An autofill valve went in at the 1/2″ thread specified by the homeowner’s geothermal provider, so the system tops off automatically without anyone having to babysit it.
