The water service line running from the meter to a Terrell home had failed. A 33-foot trench was excavated through the yard to expose the full run — the photo shows what the crew found: the old line submerged in standing water in Blackland clay soil, which shifts seasonally and accelerates wear on older pipe materials.
The deteriorated line was replaced with 1″ PEX for the full 33-foot run. A customer shut-off valve and pressure reducing valve were added in the flowerbed, housed in a meter can for easy access. The system was tested for leaks before backfill. Excess dirt was spread on site.
